 My vaporwave inspired version of the game

Roofscape

As part of a Game art elective, I had to replace all 2D assets in the Unity FPS Microgame in the style of vaporware. Working on this project was a lot of fun. I replaced all UI and HUD elements with vaporwave-themed ones.

I started by compiling a mood board and taking screenshots of the original game to determine how many assets need to be changed. I decided that the setting for the game will be running on the rooftops of buildings in a city at night. I created a neon city skyline to represent the environment even in the start menu. I tried to incorporate a lot of purples and neon colours into the design to fit the theme. The font is meant to feel both futuristic and retro, which is how vaporware is defined in many ways.

The assets were made in Illustrator and Photoshop.
